Podcast Episode 02 - Facebook (Connect) In A Marketing Context
February 27, 2009 24
It’s been a few weeks since the previous episode about Twitter, but we hope this new episode was worth the wait. This time, we explain how a marketeer can use Facebook.
We introduce the benefits of groups and pages. We give an overview of some announcements Facebook made about the new page layout. We talk about applications and Facebook Connect. We take a closer look at some cool implementations of Facebook Connect in order to give you a clear view on what is and might be possible.
As a little extra – “something completely different” – we show you how DeadMau5 has a nice idea for the music industry with its iPhone-app.
The speed at which Facebook is reinventing itself and at how marketeers are adopting its possibilities is incredibly fast. As fast as it is still growing. Last week there was a hassle about Facebook owning your data, Facebook’s reaction saying this isn’t so, the turn back to the old TOS and this morning I noticed that Facebook is actually involving people in the creation of their new TOS.

hmmm about the story of David.. I heart a lot of people nagged about the food they got from Kinepolis instead of blogged about the positive side..

Hannes, underneath an overview of some of the bloggers’ & other posts resulting from this event. Indeed, some were nagging about the food, but as you can read below, there are definitely some interesting and positive news inside there:

Hi guys,
thanks for the greetings in the feedback section ;-) You are doing a great job here and I think a lot of clients (and probably also classic agencies) appreciate your work and effort.
I didn’t know about the deadmau5 app before. Now I downloaded it and it’s super engaging. This can be really an interesting option for the music industry in the future.
BTW if you are planning to attend at the Re:publica in Berlin this year, join your Facebook group, we are organizing a Planner get together.

Nice, thanks for the reply Bart!
I also learned by reading more blogposts that your company arranged the meeting between Kinepolis and the bloggers.

Interesting proof of the effects of Facebook Connect: CitySearch’s beta generated 75% CTR on Facebook newsfeed posts. An average (/day) of 30 out of 40 friends watching the reviews of City Search (beta-)subscribers, also clicked the story in their Facebook newsfeed and landed on the City Search website tripling the new registrations a day!
